Schedule an Appointment

The Oral Health Center has a specific process for new patients. The first appointment — a screening — includes a brief evaluation of your oral health care needs and, if necessary, appropriate radiographs (X-rays). The fee for this appointment is $85. If you’ve had X-rays taken within the past three years, please ask your previous dental care provider to forward them to us.

The second appointment — the comprehensive exam — is $55 and includes a thorough mapping of your oral health condition. This is required to develop your personal treatment plan.

The third visit is when we go over your treatment plan — what it involves, how much it might cost, and how long it could take. There’s no charge for this appointment unless treatment starts that day.

As an academic facility, our goal is to train the next generation of oral health professionals to provide comprehensive care. Because of this, procedures such as cleanings, fillings, or implants cannot be scheduled until the new patient process is complete. Once you’ve reviewed the initial patient information below, you can schedule your initial screening appointment by calling (207) 221-4747 from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 2–5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by emailing oralhealthcenter@une.edu.

Please bring the following to your first appointment

  • A list of current medications and dosages.
  • Photo identification, as well as any dental and/or medical insurance information.
  • Payment by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, Care Credit, or debit card.
  • POA or Guardianship paperwork, if applicable

If You are accepted as a patient

  • Treatment will be provided in our modern, state-of-the-art facility that focuses on patient comfort, respect, confidentiality, and excellent patient-centered care.
  • Students and faculty will provide you with information regarding treatment options and costs. This treatment plan will be followed throughout your care.
  • You will have opportunities to ask questions, be informed, and consent to treatment.
  • Because of the faculty/student education process that occurs during your dental care, appointments will be longer than in a traditional private practice setting. As a result, your dental care is offered at a lower fee.
  • Depending on your dental care needs, you may be asked to be available for appointments as frequently as once and sometimes twice per week. A typical appointment at the Oral Health Center can last two to three hours.
  • Continuity of care and completing your care in a timely manner will be made priorities.

After-Hours Care for Established Patients

Once you are an established patient, after-hours care is available at all times. An emergency telephone number is provided to you in your welcome packet and printed on both payment receipts and post-operative instructions. Our faculty is on-call to assist you.
